Rungta Irrigation Ltd (RIL) was initially established as Jindal Irrigation Pvt Ltd in April 1986 as a private limited company. Subsequently, it transitioned into a public limited company in June 1986 and later rebranded as Rungta Irrigation Ltd in April 1994. Originally founded by S R Jindal, the company came under the ownership of R S Rungta from the Rungta Group in 1992-93, who presently serves as the Chairman.
In March 1995, RIL conducted a public issue with a premium of Rs 50, raising Rs 14.28 crore. The funds were earmarked for establishing a new unit to manufacture sprinkler irrigation systems, drip irrigation systems, HDPE pipes, PVC pipes, fittings, and components, as well as to address working capital requirements amounting to Rs 24 crore.
The company is involved in the manufacturing, design, assembly, and marketing of sprinkler irrigation systems based on aluminium/GI/HDPE/PVC pipes, as well as rigid PVC and HDPC pipes for water conveyance channels and other applications. It recently diversified into drip irrigation systems and the production of HDPE and PVC pipes, with technical collaborations with Unicor Rohrsysteme, Germany, and Ein-Tal, Israel, for drip irrigation technology.
Key products of the company include sprinklers, drip irrigation systems, aluminum, PVC, and HDPE pipes, and fountains. RIL has established a robust dealership network with branches nationwide. The company undertakes various projects such as PE, PVC, HDPE, MS, DI Pipeline Projects, Drip & Sprinkler Irrigation System Turnkey Projects, specialist Underwater Pipeline Projects, Canal Work, and Irrigation Projects. It provides turnkey solutions encompassing design, supply, welding, testing, installation, commissioning, civil, electro-mechanical work, and canal works for projects like Potable Water Supply Scheme, Sewage Plants & ETP Pipelines, SLF Waste Water Treatment Plant, Lift & Gravity Irrigation, Micro Irrigation System, Sprinkler Irrigation Projects, Landscape Irrigation, Main & Floater Pipes, Dust Suppression System, etc.
During the fiscal year 1995-96, the company established an additional unit in Kala-amb, Himachal Pradesh, for the manufacturing of PVC/HDPE Pipes and Drip Irrigation systems. In 1998-99, RIL expanded its portfolio by launching pesticide products.
