In January 1993, Mukat Pipes entered the capital market with a public issue to partially finance a Rs 16.9 crore expansion plan. This expansion aimed to increase the installed capacity of SAW pipes from 5000 tpa to 20,000 tpa, allowing the company to produce pipes with larger diameters of up to 130 inches.
Despite having a smaller capacity (20,600 tpa) compared to SAW Pipes (250,000 tpa), Mukat Pipes had the capability to manufacture pipes ranging from 16 inches to 130 inches in diameter, while SAW Pipes was limited to pipes up to 40 inches in diameter.
The company's products found application in demanding industries such as oil, gas, chemicals, slurry, water, sewage transportation, as well as the transportation of solids using air or liquid propellants. They were also utilized in the construction of oil rig platforms. One of Mukat Pipes' units in Baramati completed an expansion project in 2002-03, with production commencing the same year.
The company's truncated project for manufacturing Large Diameter Pipes became operational and was commissioned on March 15, 2004. Subsequently, the Baramati Unit in Maharashtra was sold during 2011-12 under the guidance of the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) as part of the company's rehabilitation measures.
