In the fiscal year 1997-98, the company was declared financially distressed by the BIFR and referred to IFCI for rehabilitation. By 1998-99, a rehabilitation scheme was approved by the BIFR, and IFCI, PNB, and the Government of Haryana provided reliefs and concessions. As a result, an amount of Rs 634 lacs of previous year's interest was waived off and reflected in the current financial year's accounts.
Modern Dairies Ltd has also obtained ISO-9002 certification from DNV, Norway, accredited by RvA Netherlands.
In 2000-01, the company entered into a commercial agreement with Britannia Industries to supply pasteurized milk in consumer packs, alongside table butter and pure ghee, a partnership that had been ongoing for some time. Additionally, the company committed to enhancing its facilities for pasteurized poly pack milk, cheese production, and additional balancing equipment, with a capital expenditure of Rs.4.5 Crore financed by banks.
In 2002, the company introduced two new traditional Indian dairy products, namely Lassi and Paneer (Cottage cheese). Collaboration with Nestle for the supply of table butter began in May 2003. The second Casein Manufacturing Line commenced commercial production in October 2007. Following this, the company bolstered its milk procurement infrastructure by expanding Milk Chilling Centers, adding Bulk Milk Coolers in the milkshed area, initiating the production of Pharma Grade Lactose, installing a new Effluent Treatment Plant, and expanding the Whey Filtration System during the fiscal year 2008-09. Commercial production for the supply of Set Curd (Plain) for Delhi Metro and other towns in Punjab and Haryana commenced in November 2009.
