India Steel Works Ltd, previously known as Isibars Ltd, was established as Khanna & Roy Heavy Engineering in 1987. In 1990, it came under the ownership of the current promoter, H L Gupta, who then rebranded the company as Isibars in May 1991. The company specializes in the manufacturing and trading of steel products such as hot rolled items, bars, rods, and bright bars. Subsequently, Isibars acquired the steel division of Zenith, including a steel melting and rolling unit located in Khopoli, Maharashtra.

Bright bars and drawn stainless steel bars, known for their corrosion resistance, find applications across various industries including automobile, textile, machine tools, chemicals, food processing, dairy, and marine sectors. Additionally, cold-rolled stainless steel flats are utilized in the production of stainless steel utensils.

Over time, India Steel Works Ltd expanded its cold-finished bars capacity to 10,000 tonnes per annum. In July 1998, the company commenced production at its expansion-cum-backward integration project in Khopoli, which incurred a cost of Rs 120.52 crore.

In 2003-04, the company re-installed its Cold bar rolling mill, enhancing its commercial operations to increase rolling capacities from 80,000 to 100,000 metric tonnes per annum. Concurrently, the company embarked on expanding its steelmaking capacity by installing a new Induction furnace, raising the capacity from 40,000 to 54,000 metric tonnes per annum upon project completion.

In 2012-13, the Bright Bar Division located in Navi Mumbai was relocated and amalgamated into the Khopoli facilities. Additionally, a wholly owned subsidiary named Indinox Steels Private Limited was incorporated on June 16, 2018.
