The company commenced its operations in 1974 with a 1-tonne capacity arc furnace for steel casting production. However, due to technological limitations, the arc furnace was decommissioned in 1981, and in its place, a 0.5-metric tonne capacity induction melting furnace was installed. Further expansion occurred in 1988 with the addition of a rolling mill for manufacturing MS hot rolled rounds. Subsequent years saw incremental increases in melting capacity, notably in 1989, 1991, 1994, and March 1993.
In 1995, Garg Furnace Ltd completed an expansion and forward integration project, which included the installation of a new induction melting furnace to boost ingot manufacturing capacity from 48,000 tpa to 72,000 tpa. Additionally, a wire rod mill with an installed capacity of 30,000 tpa was established. To fund this project, the company tapped into the capital market in April 1995.
The implementation of the 66KV Sub Station Project was completed during the fiscal year 2011-2012, enhancing the company's operational infrastructure.
