In addition to its core agricultural activities, Basant Aro-Tech is involved in power generation through wind turbines and the management of warehousing and cold storage facilities. The company went public in September 1994, issuing shares at a premium of Rs. 5 per share, raising Rs. 2.94 crores to fund its modernization projects. It engages in the trading of imported fertilizers such as DAP, Muriate of Potash, Urea, Suphala, and Dolomite, with partnerships with Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation (MMTC) and Paradip Phosphates (PPL) for DAP.
The company's expansion efforts include the commissioning of a single super phosphate (SSP) plant and a granulation plant in Maharashtra, with capacities of 66,000 MTPA and 39,600 MTPA respectively, during 1996-97. Subsequent expansions increased the SSP capacity to 83,000 MTPA in 2000-01. Basant Aro-Tech diversified into producing high-yielding hybrid seeds for various crops and acquired additional manufacturing facilities, notably in Sangli and Hospet, increasing its total capacity for NPK Mixture Granulated fertilizers to 90,000 TPA and SSP fertilizers to 120,000 TPA.
Further expansions in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh augmented production capacities, with acquisitions leading to a total SSP fertilizer capacity of 195,000 TPA by 2007-08. The company ventured into wind energy with installations in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and collaboration with Vestas RRB Ltd. A notable collaboration with Mahyco Monsanto Biotech (I) Ltd resulted in the launch of BT cotton seeds in 2009-10.
In August 2013, the company commenced production at a new SSP fertilizers plant in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, with a capacity of 132,000 TPA. More recently, in 2022-23, Basant Aro-Tech expanded its portfolio by launching a pipe manufacturing plant in Akola, Maharashtra, catering to the needs of drip irrigation, sprinkler systems, and HDPE portable water pipes. In 2023, the company also ventured into LABSA manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh.
