Originally incorporated as ANS Agro Industries Ltd in 1994, the company conducted its first public offering in 1995-96, issuing 4,600,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each, totaling Rs 460 lakh. The offering was oversubscribed by 1.3 times. Commercial production commenced on May 31, 1996, with technical expertise acquired from Kuhlzentrum Mariental of Germany.
In April 1997, ANS Ltd initiated sales, exporting 13 containers of frozen products to various regions including Europe and the Middle East. In 2002-03, the company leased its Sonepat plant to Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd for two years. Subsequently, in April 2005, ANS Ltd acquired a plant in Karnal from Jagdamba Foods, leasing it to Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals from November 1, 2005.
During 2005-06, ANS Ltd diversified into construction, beginning operations in Dahej, Gujarat. The Sonepat plant was sold to Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd for Rs 12 crore in May 2005. The company also acquired agricultural land in February-March 2006 for research purposes.
In 2006-07, ANS Ltd secured contracts for site grading projects for ONGC at Dahej, Gujarat, and installation of grading work for IOCL at Panipat. By 2007-08, the company completed site grading at Dahej and secured additional projects, including site grading and deforestation work at IOC Panipat. ANS Ltd also entered a merchant trading contract with Bunge S A, a Switzerland-based company, in November 2007.
The lease agreement for the Karnal unit expired in November 2007, leading to a fresh lease agreement with Temptation Foods Ltd starting December 1, 2007. In 2008-09, ANS Ltd completed its contract with Bunge S A and officially changed its name from ANS Agro Industries Ltd to ANS Ltd on September 29, 2008. Additionally, the lease agreement for the Karnal unit was renewed with Temptation Foods but was terminated on June 30, 2009.
