CHENNAI: Global technology company Zoho Corp has invested in Tamil Nadu-based drone startup Yali Aerospace - which is engaged in delivery of medical supplies to hospitals in remote areas - a top official said on Tuesday.

Yali Aerospace, a Thanjavur-based drone startup founded in 2022 by Dinesh Balura and Anugrah, says its mission is to “provide easy-to-use technology for civil and military use purposes”.

Sridhar Vembu, CEO, Zoho Corp, said, “We are pleased to announce our investment in Thanjavur-based drone startup Yali Aerospace, led by the husband-wife team of Dinesh Baluraj and Anugrah. They have returned to their hometown from the Netherlands. " Start it from Thanjavur.”

“They (the couple) have created a fixed-wing drone with vertical take-off landing, which solves the problem of delivering medicines and organs to remote hospitals,” Vembu said in a social media post.

He said the drones can travel a distance of 150 km with a payload of 7 kg and fly at a maximum speed of 155 km per hour.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu government-backed StartupTN congratulated Yali Aerospace on bagging investment from Zoho Corp.

“Many congratulations to Yali Aerospace on receiving investment from little unicorn Zoho Corporation. Yali Aerospace has made remarkable progress in revolutionizing medical supply distribution across India. Their groundbreaking innovation, Yali Network Bridge, ensures that critical Medical supplies reach their destinations within 20 minutes, StartupTN said in a social media post.

It said the success story of the Thanjavur-based startup is a testament to their dedication and innovation.
