In New Delhi, Zepto faced the ire of social media after a user called out the fast-trading platform for selling coriander at an exorbitant price of Rs 131 per 100 grams.

Zepto said the system issue had "caused significant pricing disparities" across the platform and assured that the issue had been resolved. The company said its platform now reflects accurate prices.

Zepto came under fire when a Gurugram user discovered that 100 grams of coriander leaves were priced at Rs 131 on Zepto, and criticized the brand for overvaluing Dhaniya, in a post, along with a screenshot, on X.

Several netizens expressed outrage and shock, while some highlighted how the exorbitant prices on the platform were in stark contrast to street vegetable vendors offering free cilantro along with vegetables to attract buyers.

"Maybe it's grown in lunar soil?" asked an Internet user in X.

In his response, Zepto said the system failure had led to pricing disparities and that the company is committed to addressing customer concerns quickly and transparently.

"Yesterday, a system glitch caused significant price disparities on our platform, resulting in some unusual price tags for several products, including cilantro. While some items were priced three times lower, others saw a substantial increase," Zepto said, adding that the problem has been fixed.

"We are pleased to inform our customers that the issue has been resolved and exact pricing is now back on track," Zepto said.

However, he said Zepto's prices may not always match those of its peers and that the company prioritizes quality above all else.

"At Zepto, we are dedicated to offering the best quality while striving to offer the best prices. Quality is never compromised and we are committed to ensuring that our customers receive only the best products," the company stated.
