New Delhi, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday announced its partnership with former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh's foundation YouWeCan to launch a breast cancer screening initiative for women across India.

The Healthy Women Healthy India initiative aims to screen 1,50,000 women across 15 states for breast cancer over a 1-year period, focusing on under-represented and under-resourced communities.

Muralikrishnan B, President, Xiaomi India, said, “The harsh reality that a woman dies of breast cancer every 6 minutes in India, with 70 per cent of cases diagnosed at an advanced stage due to lack of screening, is part of our mission. Underlines the urgency.”

He said, "Cancer can't beat you, you have to beat cancer."

According to a statement, the initiative aims to provide access to safe breast cancer screening, create awareness about the risks and self-testing techniques, and ensure early detection and timely treatment.

"The 'Healthy Women Healthy India' project is part of Xiaomi India's broader efforts in education, healthcare, environmental protection, emergency relief and digital empowerment. As it marks a decade in India, Xiaomi is committed to creating shared value and driving positive reaffirms its dedication to social impact,” the statement said.
