New Delhi, YSRCP member Yeram Venkata Subba Reddy on Tuesday accused the ruling TDP of indulging in "sponsored and organized violence" against the YSRCP leadership and cadres instead of granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking during the debate on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha, Reddy emphasized that the special category status is not just a demand but a "right of the people of Andhra Pradesh" which has been denied "due to unjust partition". A lot of damage has been done." ,

"Instead of demanding special category status, the ruling TDP, after coming to power, has sponsored and enabled brutal methods of organized violence on the leadership, cadres of the YSRCP," he alleged.

Reddy urged NDA ally TDP to focus on securing special status for the state.

The YSRCP MP also urged the Center to expedite the completion of the Polavaram Irrigation Project by releasing the required funds. Additionally, he requested privatization of Vizag Steel Plant and allocation of funds for plant revival.

Addressing medical education concerns, Reddy advocated increasing the NEET-UG seats from the current 55,648 to 1 lakh, highlighting the increasing number of aspirants and the "acute shortage of seats in government medical colleges".
