Ghaziabad (UP): A smartphone given to a physically challenged student under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's program here was allegedly snatched by a person, police said on Thursday.

Police said that they have lodged an FIR against an unknown person at Ghantaghar police station.

Manoj, who completed LLB course from MMH College, was given a smartphone at the Chief Minister's program on Wednesday. However, some unknown person snatched it after the employment fair organized at Ghantaghar Ramlila Maidan. He received a mobile phone when his name was shortlisted in the list of beneficiaries.

Manoj said, when his mobile was snatched in the field, he raised an alarm but no one could hear his voice over the loudspeaker.

Manoj is a resident of Afzal Pur Pavati village of the district. When Additional Police Commissioner Ritesh Tripathi was contacted in this regard, he said that the police is investigating the matter.

Adityanath on Wednesday distributed 6,000 smartphones and tablets to the youth under the employment fair programme.

Appointment letters were also handed over to one thousand previously registered unemployed youth.
