Nashik: A youth was detained on Thursday for allegedly threatening BJP MLA from Nashik Central Devyani Farande in connection with the April 3 incident. A police officer gave this information.

On April 3, a resident of Jai Bhavani Road area had uploaded an allegedly objectionable post, following which a mob demonstrated in front of Upanaga police station and Dwarka Chowk demanding his arrest. The mob also pelted stones at vehicles on the Pune-Nashik highway, the official said.

"The man was arrested by the suburb police. A few days ago, while addressing a press conference, Farande had demanded further action from the police," the officer said.

"In response to the clip of the press conference on Facebook, a person threatened the MLA, claiming that she was escalating the issue. We have increased her security and deployed a constable with her," the police officer said. "

The officer said that a case has been registered at the Cyber ​​Police Station under the Information Technology Act and the youth who allegedly threatened the MLA has been detained.
