New Delhi [India], Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote an emotional note for brother Rahul Gandhi as he contested both the seats and the party improved its position in the Lok Sabha elections.

Praising Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi said that despite his conviction being doubted and a "tremendous propaganda of lies" being carried out against him, Rahul never backed down and "kept fighting for the truth."

Describing him as "the bravest", she said Rahul Gandhi fought the battle with love, truth and kindness and he was proud of him.

Rahul Gandhi, who contested from two seats - Rae Bareli and Wayanad - won both the constituencies by huge margins.Rahul Gandhi defeated BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh in Rae Bareli seat by a margin of 3,90,030 votes. Gandhi had contested the seat with an aim to save the party's only stronghold in the state after losing Amethi in 2019.

The Congress leader also won the Wayanad seat, confirming his entry into the Lok Sabha in 2019. He defeated Communist Party of India-Marxist candidate Annie Raja by 3,64,422 votes.

The counting of 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday.

According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, significantly less than 303 seats in 2019. On the other hand, Congress registered a strong improvement by winning 99 seats.Facing tough competition and defying all predictions, India Block crossed the 230 mark.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP will need the support of other parties in the alliance, mainly JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
