During this period, the Yogi Adityanath government will organize various activities like 'Sarathi Vahan' and 'Saas-Beta-Bahu Sammelan' to raise public awareness about the importance of family planning. After this, the third phase of the fortnight will be celebrated from 11 to 24 July.

According to an official release, counseling on various family planning methods (basket of choice) will be provided in all health units, and these methods will be made available to eligible and willing beneficiaries.

The Health Department is continuously working to accelerate family welfare programs and achieve population stabilization.

World Population Day, celebrated every year on 11 July, aims to raise social awareness about population stabilization.Principal Secretary of Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department, Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma has issued necessary guidelines to all the District Magistrates and Chief Medical Officers of the state.

Pinky Jowell, Mission Director, National Health Mission, said that Population Fortnight is celebrated every year with active participation of officials, health workers and the community.

Many family welfare programs are also conducted during this period. These efforts have led to a decline in the state's total fertility rate (TFR), as revealed by the National Family Health Survey. As per NFHS-5 (2019-20), the TFR is 2.4, which is lower than 2.7 in NFHS-4 (2015-16).The initial phase of the Population Stabilization Fortnight began on June 1 and will continue till June 20. During this period, preparations are underway to motivate targeted couples and effectively implement service delivery activities.

Efforts include capacity building for service providers, ensuring supply of family planning methods, and promoting coordination between various departments.

This year the slogan of Population Fortnight is 'The new identity of developed India, family planning is the pride of every couple' and the theme is 'Right time and spacing of pregnancy for the health of mother and child'.

Suryansh Ojha, General Manager, Family Welfare Programme, emphasized that the program focuses on encouraging the community to adopt modern family planning methods, training health workers and enhancing the Family Planning Logistics Management Information System (FPLMIS) portal.This portal is important in monitoring and managing family planning materials and resources at all levels. During the fortnight, districts are encouraged to present innovative ideas.
