Speaking on Houthi-run al-Masirah TV, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sariya said it was the group's second attack against Eisenhower in less than 24 hours.

However, there was no immediate comment from the US Navy or the targeted shipping companies, Xinhua news agency reported.

Sariya announced the first attack on Friday, saying it was in response to a joint US-UK operation on Thursday night against Houthi positions, which killed 16 people and wounded another 41.

On Saturday, Sariya also claimed a drone strike on an unidentified US destroyer in the Red Sea, as well as "several operations" targeting commercial ships accused of violating the Houthi ban on entry into Israeli ports. The ships targeted included MANIA, ALORAIQ and ABLIANI.

The Houthi spokesman vowed to carry out more attacks until "Israel ends its war and blockade against Palestinians in Gaza."

Since November last year, the Houthi group has launched anti-ship ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israeli-linked ships transiting the Red Sea in a show of solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In response, the US-British naval coalition deployed in the waters has launched airstrikes and missile strikes against Houthi positions since January.
