No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula defeated qualifier Katerina Siniakova 7-6(2), 3-6, 4-2 in the day's second quarterfinal, before rain interrupted the day's play. The remaining two quarterfinals will see No. 1 seed Coco Gauff face No. 8 seed Ons Jabeur and No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka face Anna Kalinskaya.
Gauff and Jabeur will start on Saturday at Steffi Graf Stadium while Sabalenka and Kalinskaya will play together on Court 1.
Pegula and Siniakova would restart after Gauff and Jabeur, followed by two semi-finals, then the Gauff/Jabeur winner against the Pegula/Siniakova winner.
Pegula, who is bidding for the first grass-court semi-final of her career, had started to pull away from Siniakova after the Czech player slipped while diving for a lob in the first game of the decider. Although Siniakova was able to resume, she lost 10 of the next 11 points to fall behind 3–0 before taking an off-court medical timeout.
