I feel like a good romantic comedy is something I would do." I'm really interested," Kohli said in a virtual interview from London.

"36 Days" is a 36-day journey to the fateful moment that disrupts the lives of the residents of Casa De Magnolia in Goa.

The Mumbai-born actor said that he was previously offered another role on the show, but since he didn't have the dates at the time, he decided to say no to the project.

As filming on "36 Days" progressed, he found space in his schedule and joined the series, albeit in a different role.

"The nice thing about the BBC is that it always gets shows that have already been produced internationally. A lot of very smart writing minds have put a lot of hours into creating these properties or stories that can be retold around the world and what if they do the same program in China, the United States or India. So you don't have to think about it when something comes out of them, you know it will be a good and very well written program," he said.

Led by Neha Sharma, "36 Days" also stars Amruta Khanvilkar, Sharib Hashmi, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Shruti Seth and Sushant Divgikar.

Kohli said that all the characters in the show have their own backstories.

"The right thing to do is to cast such good actors and give them something good to do with each character. Everyone on the show has done so much and it's a really colorful cast and good actors.

"I feel like they're all being used beautifully and they're all linked to the main story in one way or another and through that link you discover the mess, the secrets, the complexities that exist in each individual home as you go along," he added.

From modeling, acting in different media, hosting shows and participating in reality shows, the 45-year-old has done practically everything in his more than 20-year career.

But his first job was as a cleaner in his house when he was just 12 years old.

"My mother bought a vacuum cleaner at home and I loved using it. It was great. I really wanted to use it, so I found a way to go to all my uncles and aunts' houses for 10 or 20 rupees. I just vacuumed their house, that was the first job I did," he remembers.

Kohli said that he likes working in the field he is in and that he would like to gradually move to behind-the-camera duties. A few years ago he directed a music video about the National Anthem.

"I really love the medium... I need to be into something that's creative... Right now, I enjoy writing. I don't have anything that's published or becoming something. But, I'm writing a script and I feel like that would be the next gradual step… would move on to writing and directing.”
