Thane: A 40-year-old laborer died after being electrocuted while working on bamboo scaffolding of a building in Dombivali area of Thane district. Police gave this information on Monday.
Following the incident on Sunday, police booked the contractor doing the work and others under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
No one has been arrested yet, a police officer said.
The incident occurred when the worker climbed the scaffolding built above a shop in Sonarpada area to remove bamboo. By mistake he touched the electric cable passing overhead, after which he lost his balance and fell.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the official said.
According to the police, the contractor had not taken adequate security measures.
