She made the comments while delivering her special address during the CII Rajasthan Women's Leadership Summit in Jaipur.

"The reason for this is that women often leave the labor market at various stages, such as during motherhood, when their children are between grades 10 and 12, or when they need to care for the elderly at home. Working women should receive flexible work schedules and locations," she said, adding that women should make up 40 to 50 percent of an organization's workforce.

To retain women in the workforce, it is important to understand why they leave and provide them with flexible schedules and workplaces, Bhattacharya said.

Bhattacharya, who was the first woman president of the SBI, further cited the example of how the introduction of the concept of a sabbatical of up to two years for women in the SBI helped more than 650 women retain their jobs.

Speaking of skills, she said that with the leap in technology it is necessary to keep learning, relearning and unlearning.

"Training is a matter of initiative, as there are now many courses available online."

Sanjay Agarwal, Founder, Managing Director and CEO of AU Small Finance Bank, emphasized the importance of improving the visibility of women in the workforce.

He recognized that although women do work, their contributions and the time they dedicate to their jobs often go unnoticed or undervalued.

Agarwal emphasized that it is crucial for organizations to recognize and appreciate the efforts of female employees, ensuring that their hard work is recognized and rewarded.

He also highlighted the need to create a safe and supportive work environment for women, he said.

Nitin Gupta, Senior Director and Director, CII Rajasthan, said that the main objective of the summit is to create a platform where women leaders share their experiences, how they overcame challenges in their leadership journey and what were the pivotal moments or events that It transformed them as individuals and leaders.

During her welcome remarks, President of Indian Women's Network, Rajasthan, Tanuja Agarwal said that the objective of the session is to discuss the role of women in fostering organizational growth.
