Patna, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his 'Mangalsutra' comment and claimed that most women are not able to buy gold due to rising prices.

Speaking to reporters here, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar also reminded the Prime Minister of the lives lost during the Covid pandemic, due to hardships after demonetisation, in the Pulwama terror attack and during the clashes with Chinese troops on the border.

Yadav said, "The Prime Minister should tell us who is responsible for snatching 'mangalsutra' (a metaphor for widowhood) from so many women during the Covid outbreak, after demonetisation, the Pulwama terror attack and the clashes with the Chinese army on the border. Is." ,

He was replying to questions on Modi's allegation that RJD's ally Congress has promised to snatch away things from common people, including 'mangalsutra' worn by women after marriage.

Yadav said, “Elections should be about issues. What is the point of talking about 'mangalsutra' when gold has become so expensive that most women cannot buy it?"

He expressed confidence that the RJD and its allies will win all five seats in Bihar where voting is to be held in the second phase and reiterated that "it is a choice between the NDA and India".

The comment was apparently a reference to former Purnia MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, who has fielded him as an independent after the Congress refused to give him the party ticket from the seat where the RJD had won. JD (U Turncoat Insurance Bharti) has been fielded.

"There are only two forces standing against each other in these elections. On the other side there is the NDA which is a threat to the Constitution. On the other side I am India which wants to save the Constitution. If you are not with India, you are not with India. It will be assumed that he is with the NDA," the RJD leader said, avoiding mentioning the name of Pappu Yadav, whom he termed as "BJP's B- Have been accused of being 'team'.
