New Delhi [India], The Women and Child Development Department of the Delhi government on Thursday took over the management of women's helpline number 181, which was earlier handled by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

Delhi Minister Kailash Gehlot said on Thursday that 1,024 calls were received till 2 pm today.

Gehlot posted on Twitter, "Women helpline number 181 service has been started by the Women and Child Development Department. A total of 1,024 calls on helpline number 181 till 2 pm today since resumption at 4:58 pm yesterday." Received."

The change follows a directive from the Government of India, which directed the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT Delhi, to manage the women's helpline-181, according to a letter to the Chief Secretary dated May 4, 2023.

Women's helpline number 181 receives around 40,000 calls every month.

It is a toll-free, 24-hour telecommunications service that provides support and information to women seeking help.
