The body of an unidentified woman wrapped in a blanket was found in a dry drain in Uran taluka of Raigad district in Thane, Maharashtra. Police gave this information on Friday.
An official of Ura police station said that the body was recovered in Talekhar on Thursday morning.
"A passerby found the body on the Chirner-Kharpara road around 6 a.m.. It was wrapped in a blanket and the legs were kept in a plastic bag," he said.
He said, "The age of the deceased could be around 35 years and she might have been murdered."
The police officer said the body was later sent to a government hospital for post-mortem and a case was registered against unidentified persons under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Went.
