NOIDA: The body of a 32-year-old woman, a student of a university in Greater Noida, was found in a water tank on the terrace of her residence, with police suspecting the role of her 33-year-old absconding husband, officials said on Tuesday.

Police said Kaushal's body was found on Monday in a cemented water tank on the terrace of the servants' quarters at Gautam Buddhist University, where her husband Kapil works as a class IV employee.

According to the police, who cited information received from neighbours, the couple had a heated argument the night before her death. Kapil's mother also lived with him.

Police spokesperson said that the PRV control room was informed about the incident on Tuesday.

"Officials from Ecotech-I police station went to the spot to investigate and found the body of the woman, whose husband is a Class IV employee," the spokesperson said.

"According to neighbors and people living nearby, the husband and wife kept quarreling over some issue till 3 in the morning. They used to quarrel frequently," the officer said.

Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Shivhari Meena said that the husband and his mother are absconding.

Meena said that police teams have been formed and a search has been started to arrest both of them.

"A thorough investigation is underway. Further legal action is being taken," he said.
