New Delhi: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified man after their two-wheelers collided with each other in an incident of road rage in northeast Delhi's Gokalpuri area on Wednesday. Police said that the police gave this information.

The incident took place around 3.15 pm on the Gokalpuri flyover when the woman, Simranjit Kaur, was traveling with her husband Hira Singh and two sons aged 12 and four.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey said Singh had an argument with a person riding another two-wheeler near Gokalpuri flyover when their vehicles almost collided with each other.

Singh and his family continued to walk on the road below the flyover while the other person climbed onto the flyover, the DCP said, adding that they continued abusing each other.

Singh told the police that the accused fired one shot from a distance of about 30-35 feet from the flyover below.

The bullet hit Kaur in the chest and she fell down. Police said her husband took her to GTB Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

DCP Tirkey said, a case of murder is being registered and CCTV footage of the area is being scrutinized.

The officer said that efforts are being made to identify and arrest the attacker.
