CHENNAI: A woman was injured when a buffalo attacked her and trampled her after dragging her for some distance with its horns in Tiruvottiyur here on Monday.

In the video that has gone viral, the woman can be seen walking on the road with her bag and suddenly a buffalo attacks her. The buffalo can be seen lowering its head and injuring the woman. After holding the woman by its horns and swinging her around, the animal can be seen attacking some people who rushed to save the victim.

After releasing the woman, the animal goes berserk and knocks down some two-wheelers and bicycles parked on the road. The local people brought it under control.

Following the incident, Greater Chennai Corporation officials shifted the buffalo to the civic body's cattle depot in Perambur here.

"No one has claimed ownership of the buffalo. So far the GCC has seized 1,117 stray cattle this year," a senior official said.

Meanwhile, the victim, identified as Madhumati, is undergoing treatment at a hospital here for multiple injuries.

"I was going to my relative's house when the buffalo attacked me and dragged me. It tore my thigh," Madhumati told reporters. He got 50 stitches.
