Bhubaneswar: A young woman was allegedly gang-raped for several days in an isolated house in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. An official gave this information on Sunday.

Police have detained four people in this connection.

Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida spoke to Dhenkanal SP about the incident and directed the police to take strict action against the culprits.

A police officer said that this incident, which took place a few days ago in a village under Sadar police station, came to light after Sakhi Center officials lodged a police complaint in this regard.

The victim's mother has died, while her father is mentally unwell. According to the police, the family is poor, so they live in an isolated house.

The police officer said that the local administration recently rescued the victim and shifted her to the nearby Sakhi Centre, after which the victim narrated the entire incident.

Dhenkanal Sadar Police Station IIC Deepak Kumar Lenka said that the investigation is going on under the direct supervision of the SP.
