Hyderabad, In a rare instance, a woman in Telangana's Siddipet district was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old teenager, police said on Saturday. .

A police release said the 27-year-old woman has been living in a rented house in Siddipet with her husband and two children for the last three years.

It said the woman had induced Kishore, who is the landlord's son, to have physical relations with her.

He convinced the teenager to bring cash and gold jewelery from his house. After this, they left for Chennai in January and since then both of them are living there.

The teenager's mother had complained about her son's disappearance to the police and expressed suspicion on the woman.

Police sources said that since the woman and the teenager threw away their phones, it became difficult to trace their location.

As the teenager recently called his mother, the police were able to track his location to Chennai.

After realizing that a police investigation was underway, the woman dropped the teen at her home in Siddipet on June 11.

Based on the information given by the teenager, the woman was arrested and sent on judicial remand, the release said.

The teen told police that they had stayed in a room in Chennai where the woman forced him to have physical relations. The woman had sold the gold jewelery brought by her in Chennai.
