Kolkata, Amid the rise in incidents of mob attacks in West Bengal, a video clip surfaced on Tuesday in which a teenage boy and his mother are allegedly being attacked in Ariyadaha in North 24 Parganas district.

Police have arrested six people in connection with the incident that took place on Sunday night, an official said.

The main accused, who is considered close to the ruling Trinamool Congress, was absconding.

The police officer said that the reason behind the attack is being investigated.

The video, whose authenticity could not be confirmed, shows a group of people beating the boy and his mother with hockey sticks, he said.

“The video footage shows that there was an argument between the college student and a man, which soon turned into a fight. Soon after, other people joined the man and started assaulting the teen. They also beat up the boy's mother." The police officer said.

Both the injured were admitted to the hospital.

The incident occurred days after a video clip went viral showing a TMC powerful leader publicly beating up a couple in Chopra in North Dinajpur district, sparking widespread outrage.

Recently, four people were beaten to death in separate incidents within a week in different parts of West Bengal, including Kolkata. The last of these incidents occurred on June 30.
