The AAP MP also accused the Center of deliberately withholding funds for Punjab under the National Health Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and other central schemes.

Hayer told the media here that he would continue to raise his voice against the Centre's attack on the state's financial rights until the state gets justice.

On a question about the election of the Lok Sabha Speaker, Hair said it has been a democratic tradition in India that the Speaker comes from the ruling coalition, while the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha is always from the opposition, but the BJP is breaking it. Democratic tradition just to satisfy one's ego”.

To counter this undemocratic step, opposition parties are insisting on contesting the election of the Speaker to save this rich democratic tradition.

The Sangrur MP said, 'BJP is weakening the democratic institutions of the country and the opposition had raised the main issue of saving the Constitution and democracy in the recently held general elections, to which the people of India responded positively.'

"The people of Punjab have elected me to the Lok Sabha and it will be my primary duty to protect the interests of the state and raise a strong voice against every move of the Center that will adversely impact our state of Punjab," Hayer said.
