Hyderabad, New Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy said on Monday that he will make efforts to ensure that there is no shortage of coal in the country.

Talking to journalists in Delhi on Monday night, he said that coal plays an important role in the development of the country.

He said that after taking charge of the ministries, he will discuss with officials to prepare an action plan and 100-day agenda for both the departments.

"Before Narendra Modi (becoming Prime Minister) there used to be power cuts in the country. Power cuts were due to non-availability of coal, reduction in coal supply. After Modi ji came, he unveiled a new India by increasing power cuts. Did coal production,” Reddy said.

He said, "The country is being made a power cut free country by increasing electricity and grid connectivity in all the states. Certainly in this direction, we will consider how to avoid coal shortage in the coming days and how to improve production. " Said.

Reddy, who is also the BJP president in Telangana, said Prime Minister Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra Pradesh chief minister on June 12.

In the recent elections he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the Secunderabad constituency here. Reddy was inducted into the Union Cabinet for a new term on Sunday. Earlier he held the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
