Thane, National Book Trust India Chairman Professor Milind Marathe on Saturday said the institute will soon adopt a "print on demand" strategy.

Speaking at the release of a book here, he said that it is important to adopt the changing trend of publishing to reach out to the youth.

Highlighting the recent initiatives of NBT, Marathe mentioned the PMYUVA 1 and PMYUVA 2 programmes, under which promising writers below 30 years of age are provided a stipend of Rs. Rs 50,000 for writing content targeted at your readers.

"Interest in reading is decreasing among the younger generation. There is a need to engage them through relevant and compelling literature," he said.

Marathe said that NBT, on the occasion of completion of 75 years of independence, will collaborate with Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and India to explore contemporary topics like digital development and economic inclusion through collective writing to promote deeper understanding of important issues. Will collaborate with Delhi School of Economics.

NBT is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Education.
