He later learned that Costner himself had been selected for the role. The Thor star did not reveal what the film was, though he described it as "abstract and interesting... a little story about a man and a woman," Variety reports.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "There was a movie, there was a script that I loved and she was like, 'I want to get that,' and then someone said, 'Kevin Costney has that (role)' ," Hemsworth said. “I would love to have him as a director. I was like, 'Oh my God!' (I spent an hour the other day trying to convince him, and he said, 'I'm doing it, baby.' Didn't work. I didn't get the part.”)

According to Variety, Hemsworth said the project "involves horses" because the character is a "horse wrangler", which attracted him to star in the film.

"My wife read (the script) and she loved horses," Hemsworth said. "We have 10 or 1 horse at home, and so she says, 'You have to do this'."

Costner also spoke to Entertainment Tonight about rejecting Hemsworth: "It's a love story, but as long as I'm young enough to play it, I'll play it. Chris will have to wait his turn. (Hemsworth ) is very handsome, he is very nice. He needs to find his (his) love story.

"I'm glad he liked it. If I get to a moment where I (don't) think I can do it, I (will). He's definitely one of our great leading men right now ,'' They said.
