Clarifying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not made any 'offer' to the NCP (SP chief Sharad Pawar) but has 'advised' him to join the NDA, the senior BJP leader said, "From 1977 till today , We have seen that whenever Sharad Pawar's party becomes weak, he merges with Congress and then moves out.

Fadnavis said, "Sharad Pawar had said that he contested elections on five different symbols. If we look at his political career, whenever his party became weak, he joined Congress, corrected his position and then Left the party."

He said that PM Modi has advised Pawar not to merge with the sinking ship Congress, but to join NDA.

"Sharad Pawar realized that Ajit Pawar led NCP candidate will win the Baramati seat. That's why he gave the statement that regional parties should merge with Congress after June 4. Hence, he knows the results of the elections. Already you are drowning. Have been, and now you are heading towards a sinking ship,” Fadnavis said.

On his part, Pawar ruled out the possibility of joining the BJP-led NDA, saying there was no question of "people who have no faith in democracy" joining.
