Members of the ruling alliance asked when Shiv Sena (UBT) would merge with the Congress.

The development came as former Maharashtra chief minister Pawar told the leading daily: “In the next few years, many regional parties will align more closely with the Congress. Or if they feel it is best for their party then they can consider the option of merging with Congress.

When asked about the stand of the NCP (SP), its chief said, "I don't see any difference between the Congress and us... ideologically we are of the Gandhi-Nehru ideology."

Taking cue from the senior politician's comment, BJP MLA Prasad La said, "Will Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena merge with Congress now?"

Lad said, "Shiv Sena (UBT) has aligned itself with the Congress which opposes V.D. Savarkar. Its chief Uddhav Thackeray no longer starts his speech with 'all Hindu brothers and sisters'. He Following the advice, we have resorted to appeasement politics." He further said that in such a situation, will Shiv Sena (UBT) merge with Congress?

The BJP MLA also asked whether Uddhav Thackeray agreed with Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar's comments on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and Congress' opposition to the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Shiv Sena spokesperson lawyer Susieben Shah also claimed that the Uddhav Thackeray camp will soon merge with the Congress in Maharashtra.

"Sharad Pawar has started preparations to merge his party with Congress. Now the time has come that the 'Fake' Sena (UBT) should also merge with the Congress Party. It has abandoned the ideas of Balasaheb Thackeray and accepted the ideology of the Congress, as a result, the party will soon merge with the Congress in Maharashtra,'' he said.
