The villagers complained that there was a lack of facilities here. The villages nearest to Murshidabad in Bangladesh lack basic development and are not taking advantage of government welfare schemes. There is no water connection and since last year only one boring is available here. People are forced to travel a distance of 15-20 kilometers for health treatment.
“We are not getting anything from government schemes, there is no water connection… We are not even getting the benefits of any government scheme,” the villager told ANI. Water will not be available. We are not allowed to go after 7:30 pm. We are hoping that M, who wins, will improve the situation,” said another villager.
Villagers also said there is a lack of employment opportunities in the area, forcing people to work as migrant laborers in other states, "We have severe water shortage... We do not get government benefits. “Only before the elections, we sometimes get to know that none of the candidates contesting the elections have visited the village,” said a local woman. People also complained that their main occupation is fishing, but the only river Padma is dry, making the situation even more difficult for them.'' There is a lack of employment opportunities here.
