Kolkata: Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from some areas across eight Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal, where voting is underway for the sixth phase on Saturday. The officers provided this information.

He said the Election Commission had received 954 complaints from various political parties till 11 am, alleging EVM malfunction and agents being prevented from entering the booths.

However, the poll panel claimed that voting has been peaceful so far.

Clashes reportedly broke out between supporters of the ruling TMC and BJP over stopping polling agents from entering booths in Ghatal constituency.BJP candidate Hiran Chatterjee claimed that TMC goons were creating ruckus and disrupting the voting process.

“Our booth agents are not allowed to sit inside the booth,” he alleged.

BJP workers also protested on the road in the area and set tires on fire.

However, sitting TMC MP Dev, who is contesting re-election from the seat, rejects the allegations.

Sporadic incidents of violence were also reported from different parts of Kanthi constituency.

BJP workers protested against the central forces and accused them of attacking voters.“TMC and central forces are working against us. They are beating up your party supporters,” claimed BJP candidate Soumendu Adhikari.

In Midnapore constituency, BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul was seen facing "G back" slogans by TMC workers.

Following this, a scuffle broke out between BJP and TMC workers, following which central forces reached the spot to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, on reaching the polling booth in Tamluk, a group of people raised slogans against BJP candidate and former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay.
