Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], The West Bengal government has increased the dearness allowance and dearness relief in the state by 4 percent. Government notification was issued on Tuesday.

This order will come into effect from April 1, 2024.

In a letter dated June 11, Dr Manoj Pant, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal, said Governor CV Anand Bose is happy to increase the rate of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief.

Dr. Manoj Pant said, “The Governor is pleased to take this decision to extend the period of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief in respect of employees of State Government and Government aided educational institutions, statutory bodies, Government Undertakings and pensioners/family pensioners respectively. The rate will be increased. Daily rate of pay for Panchayats and daily rate workers including Panchayat workers, Municipal Corporations/Municipalities, Local Bodies etc., as permitted vide Finance Department Memorandum No. 1090-F (P2) dated March 1, 2024 , will be effective from April. 1 instead of May 1."
