Panaji: Goa Director General of Police Jaspal Singh was transferred to Delhi on Friday as per an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), an official said here.

He said the 1996 batch Indian Police Service officer of AGMUT cadre was transferred on an order issued by Union Home Ministry Director BG Krishnan.

Singh has been replaced by IPS officer Alok Kumar.

Singh was in controversy over the illegal demolition of a house in Asgao village on June 22. In the investigation conducted by state Chief Secretary Punit Kumar Goel, a junior officer claimed that Singh had prevented him from stopping the illegal demolition.

Five people were arrested for their alleged involvement in the demolition of the house, while the main accused Pooja Sharma, a resident of Mumbai, is absconding.

After the vandalism incident, Singh had told the media that the allegations against him were baseless.
