The accused was identified as Mohammad Faizan alias Nanhe alias Kalu alias Goga (35) and is a resident of Savda, Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik said that specific input was received that Faizan would come near Japanese Park, Sector-10 Rohini, Delhi, on his black motorcycle at around 2.15 pm on Friday to meet his associates.
“Based on the above information, a trap was laid near Gate No. 3 of Japan Park, Rohini, Delhi. A motorcyclist was stopped at around 2.30 am. When he realized that the police had surrounded him, he immediately opened fire on the police team and tried to flee the spot,” the DCP said.
The police team also retaliated in self-defense and Faizan suffered injuries on his right leg. “A sophisticated semi-automatic pistol used by him and three live bullets were recovered. He has been shifted to Dr. BSA Hospital. Legal action is being taken against him as per law.
