Before filing nomination papers, the minister also held a rally in Porbandar. The Union Health Minister filed his nomination with Arjun Modhwadia and Ramesh Dhaduk on his official X handle. Before doing so, he also tweeted about worshiping at Bhojeshwar temple.

A memorial temple, Kirti Mandir, was established at Porbandar in the memory of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi. The ancestral home of the family where Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, is located next to Kirti Mandir. The place has a huge courtyard and is surrounded by a photo exhibition depicting the life journey of Mahatma Gandhi. Shri Darbar Gopaldas Desai laid the foundation of the present Kirti Mandir in 1947. After the death of Mahatma Gandhi in 1950, the memorial was constructed and unveiled by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 27 May 1950.
