Balkaur Singh Sidhu, father of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, was among those present during the filing of nominations along with the district presidents of the urban and rural units of the party.

While paying tribute to Punjabi poet, writer and Padma Shri recipient Surjit Patar, who passed away two days ago at the age of 79, Waring decided to cancel his road show.

While talking to the media after filing nomination, he promised to eliminate gangsters in Punjab.

“The brutal murder of Sidhu Moosewala is not just a tragedy, it is a reminder of the urgent need to rid Punjab of the scourge of gangsters and criminality. If elected to Parliament, I vow to raise Musewala's case as a beacon for justice.

"Under the banner of the Congress, we will make sustained efforts to eradicate gangsters, ensuring that every citizen can live without fear," Waring said.

He visited various villages while connecting with the voters.

Waring also held a meeting with Shahi Imam Punjab, Maulana Usman Ludhianvi, in which he discussed the importance of promoting unity, harmony and understanding across different communities.
