New Delhi [India], Taking action against suspects involved in the 2021 Visakhapatnam Pakistani ISI espionage case related to the leak of classified defense information, the National Investigation Agency on Friday conducted extensive searches at three locations in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

NIA teams conducted intensive searches at three locations where the residences of the suspects were believed to have received funding from Pakistan to spy on Indian defense establishments, the NIA said in a release.

"Several incriminating materials including mobile phones and documents were seized during the search," it said.

The NIA is examining the seized materials to identify more links in the case, which was originally registered by the Counter Intelligence Cell, Andhra Pradesh on January 12, 2021 under IPC, UA(P) Act and Official Secrets Act, 1923. Was registered under various sections of IPC.

The NIA took over the case in June 2023 and filed a chargesheet against two accused, including an absconding Pakistani national, on July 19, 2023. After this, two more chargesheets were filed against three other people including a Pakistani national.

The release said the NIA investigation revealed that Pakistani nationals had collaborated with the arrested accused in an espionage racket in which sensitive/important information related to the Indian Navy was being leaked as part of a conspiracy to spread terrorist violence in India. Was.
