The funding round, a mix of equity and debt, also saw participation from Cottio's early trusted customers and angel investors.

“With the support of Antler, 8i, and our friends at AU, we are ready to further our efforts to deploy cutting-edge security solutions across the country,” Pranjal Nadhani, co-founder and CTO of Coutio, said in a statement.

Cottio provides cost-effective video telematics products and provides tailored solutions aimed at mitigating the security issues prevalent in India.

Through customizable dash cam devices and an AI-powered operating system, Coutio ensures accountability, improves driver conduct, reduces revenue loss and adopts an API-first strategy, the company said.

Nitin Sharma, Partner at Antler, said, “The Cotio model is not just about capturing telematics data, but converting it into actionable insights to enhance driver behavior, enhance safety and pave the way for autonomous vehicles "

According to Ankit Acharya, co-founder and CEO of Coutio, telematics in India has progressed rapidly from GPS, Bluetooth and portable navigation to embedded connectivity.

"India ranks first in global road mortality, with 1,68,491 deaths recorded in 2022, of which speeding is responsible for 70 per cent of the deaths, with nearly 4.4 lakh people injured," Acharya said.

“Driven by demand from the commercial vehicle sector, video telematics and dash cams will be important in dispelling rumors and enhancing road safety,” he said.
