Pune: A video showing a traffic policeman getting a foot massage from an unidentified youth in Pune went viral on social media, even though a senior officer on Sunday said it was due to the personnel's medical condition.

In the video, the traffic policeman can be seen sitting on a chair while the young man is massaging his feet.

Those sharing the video on social media said it was of a nakabandi (police investigation) in Kalyani Nagar, where the Porsche accident took place on May 19, allegedly involving a drunken minor driver.

Two IT professionals died in the accident, which sparked nationwide outrage as measures were taken to elude the accused, including altering his blood samples taken for testing to determine alcohol consumption. Was also included.

Clarifying on the viral video, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar said in a message, “Sub Inspector Gorade (57) of Yerwada Traffic Division was (deputed) for drunk driving at Adlabs Chowk, Kalyaninagar. "

The DCP said that due to continuous day and night duty for two days, Gorade's blood sugar level reached 550 (mg/dL or milligrams per deciliter), after which he started having cramps in his legs.

"Therefore, he suddenly sat on the ground. The person seen in the footage helped him in relieving the leg cramps. However, we are verifying the facts and will take necessary action," the DCP said in the message.
