New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday urged people to refrain from using derogatory language and bad behavior towards former Union Minister Smriti Irani or any other leader.

His comments come amid some people taking a dig at Irani after she vacated her official bungalow in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi following her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections to Congress's Kishori Lal Sharma.

Gandhi said on Twitter, "In life there are victories and defeats. I urge everyone to avoid using derogatory language and behaving badly towards Smt. Smriti Irani or any other leader."

The former Congress president said, "Insulting and insulting people is a sign of weakness, not strength."

BJP's IT department head Amit Malviya hit back at Gandhi, accusing him of giving a fraudulent message after "provoking" Congress leaders like a "pack of wolves".

"This is the most insidious message ever," Mavaliya said on This is not all nonsense. The fact that Mrs. Smriti Irani had forced the child Buddhi to leave Amethi cannot be hidden.

Weeks after losing the Amethi parliamentary seat to Sharma, a close associate of the Gandhi family, by a margin of over 1.6 lakh votes, Irani vacated her official bungalow at 28 Tughlaq Crescent in Lutyens' Delhi.

The former Women and Child Development Minister was branded a mass murderer after defeating Rahul Gandhi from the seat in 2019.

As soon as Irani vacated her government bungalow, some people took a dig at her election defeat and made fun of her.
