New Delhi Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday underlined the critical importance of preparedness and technological integration in defense territory management, emphasizing that "the best form of defense is to always be prepared for war."

Speaking to trainee officers of Indian Defense Property Service batch 2023 at the Vice President's Enclave, Dhankhar emphasized the need to leverage advanced technology to manage defense lands effectively.

He highlighted the challenges facing the management of these lands, including encroachments and legal disputes, and advocated a proactive approach using modern tools.

Dhankhar noted that technology can play a critical role in monitoring defense lands, enabling quick identification and resolution of any incursion.

“The best form of defense is to always be prepared for war. “Using technology for defense land management will enable them to monitor any incursion and take remedial action quickly and resolutely,” he said.

The vice president also called for structuring litigation management to address these issues efficiently.

He reminded the young officers that defense lands are vital to national security and must be managed with the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct.

Dhankhar urged the participants to set an example for others and work tirelessly to build a 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India) by 2047.

In his speech, the vice president also emphasized the importance of environmental management within the cantonment areas.

He advocated the promotion of herbal plantations and horticulture for the benefit of society at large.

Dhankhar encouraged officials to ensure that cantonment areas serve as models of cleanliness, greenery and civic amenities for other municipalities to follow.
