New Delhi, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday condemned the incident of violence during Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal and demanded an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

According to West Bengal Police, a woman was injured in an explosion that took place during a procession in Shaktipur area of Murshidabad on Wednesday.

VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain condemned the incident and alleged that the attack was carried out under the patronage of TMC (Trinamu Congress), the ruling party in West Bengal.

He claimed that it was completely a "terrorist incident" and demanded an NIA investigation into the blast.

Jain said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is appealing for peace in her public meetings and expressing fear of riots on Ram Navami.

“In reality, it was a pretext and an excuse to instigate and instigate a particular community,” he alleged.

Jai said, "We are going to the High Court and demand that this terrorist attack be investigated by the NIA, because the administration is in collusion (with criminals) and hence, it cannot investigate its own actions."

He said the VHP would hold a statewide protest against the incident and also submit a memorandum to the Governor.

Meanwhile, Banerjee on Thursday claimed that the violence in Murshidabad was "pre-planned" and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hatching a conspiracy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

"Everything was pre-planned. The Murshidabad DIG (Deputy Inspector General of Police) was removed a day before Ram Navami so that you (BJP) could indulge in violence," he said at an election rally in Raiganj Lok Sabha constituency. ,

The TMC supremo also alleged that goons affiliated with the BJP assaulted policemen in the district.
