Nashik, Veteran actress Smriti Biswas, who worked in several Hindi, Marathi and Bengali films, has died at her residence in Maharashtra's Nashik city, sources said on Thursday.

He said 100-year-old Biswas breathed his last late on Wednesday night due to age-related problems.

A famous actress of yesteryear, she was living in a rented flat with one room kitchen in Nashik Road area here.

He started his career as a child artist and acted in the films of notable filmmakers like Guru Dutt, V Shantaram, Mrinal Sen, Bimal Roy, BR Chopra and Raj Kapoor.

Biswas co-starred with actors like Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar and Balraj Sahni in various films.

He debuted in the world of films with the Bengali film "Sandhya" (1930). "Model Girl" (1960) was her last Hindi film.

Biswas left acting after her marriage to film producer SD Narang.

After the death of her husband, she started living in Nashik.

Biswas celebrated his 100th birthday on February 17, 2024. Sources said that he has two sons Rajiv and Satyajit.
