Sasindranath was suspended on the grounds of dereliction of duty and lack of integrity over the suicide of J.S.Siddharthan, a second-year Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry student at the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Pookode in Wayanad district.

Siddharthan was found hanging in his hostel room in the college on February 18. There was a huge uproar following reports that Siddharth was brutally attacked by a group of students in college, most of them belonging to the student wing of the SFI. CPI-M. So far, 20 accused persons (all students) have been arrested in the case, while the vice-chancellor, dean and assistant warden of the institute have been suspended.

With opposition parties raising the issue and the deceased's father demanding a CBI probe, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan approved it in March, but after a delay in issuing the necessary order, Siddharth's father Jayaprakash filed a petition.High Court, which in April asked the Center to give approval for this.

Rejecting the VC's plea, the court on Thursday said: "This is a serious incident which allegedly took place inside a college campus in front of a large number of students and the deceased allegedly faced inhuman torture for several days. Had to do this, which ultimately led to his death." Suicide. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that action be taken against all persons responsible for such incidents and also those authorities who knowingly or negligently did not take any steps to stop such torture before it results in the death of a person. Let it change. Therefore, I do not find it appropriate to interfere in the ongoing investigation process now.,

The court also held that the Vice Chancellor's plea that he had knowledge of the torture inflicted on Siddharthan was not credible.

"In such circumstances, the contention of the petitioner regarding lack of information regarding torture of the deceased till 21.02.2024, at least prima facie, does not appear to have any substance. It may possibly be an indication of mismanagement or dereliction of duty on the part of the persons concerned. Suggests that the petitioner (Vice Chancellor) is also involved. Therefore, it is a matter of impartial investigation."
